Home Advisor Best of 2018, and what that means to you.
More Than an “Attaboy”
Like many in the home services industry, I receive leads from Home Advisor, who recently presented me with their “Best of 2018” award. At first I thought this was one of those “Thanks for Playing” awards, like kids get these days for pretty much anything. I called and asked exactly what Best of 2018 meant, and was told the I have the highest review ratings of any Home Inspector in the market I serve. That includes Dallas, Forth Worth, the Mid-Cities; pretty much everything west of Lake Ray Hubbard, east of Aledo, north of Mansfield, and south of Denton. That’s a big market, and being told that my Home Advisor reviews put me in the #1 position is gratifying, to say the least.
Best? Really?
Honestly, I don’t put much stock in the word “best”. It’s a subjective judgement, based on personal preference. What’s best for one person is not best for another, so I will not go strutting about calling myself “The Best Inspector in Dallas-Forth Worth”. I will say this, though; my high Home Advisor ratings (33 five-star, 1 four-star) are the result of a conscious and concerted effort. It starts with understanding that I must accommodate my clients’ needs, not vice versa. I must provide a concise, thorough, and accurate report, and do so in a timely manner. I must provide more than just a report. I must seek to provide the tools my clients needs not only to be successful home buyers, but to manage their investment in the years to come. Finally I must always be looking for ways to improve on my service and performance.
Making it Real
Another component of this high satisfaction rating is, I am convinced, the fact that I try to treat each customer like a friend. The home-buying process is stressful enough. I want to be sure my clients know what they are buying, but I make it a point to engage in an actual conversation about the home, not just rattle off a list of deficiencies. I consider the post-inspection walk-through a key part of the inspection, and always make time to be sure my clients’ questions are answered.
The Bar is Set
I’m proud of this achievement, and I’m convinced that it will spur me to provide even better service in the years to come. There are a lot of exciting services that I am planning to add in the months to come, and I will always try to treat the next inspection as the most important one of my career.
