Protecting Against Covid-19 and Other Viral Illnesses

A busy inspector visits anywhere from 15 to 30 homes a month, and can easily transport germs from one location to another. Due to uncertainty regarding the overall effect this latest pandemic will have on the health of the public at large, I feel it is my responsibility to take sensible steps to help protect against its spread.

-Hand washing and sanitization will be conducted multiple times before, during, and after all inspections, and hand sanitizer will be made available to my clients.
-A disposable plastic cover will be used on countertops or floors where I might need to place my equipment.
-All surfaces that I plan to touch will be disinfected prior to commencement of the inspection. Any surfaces touched will be disinfected prior to my departure.
-Coughs and sneezes will be contained according to best practices.
-I will maintain the recommended 6 foot Social Distancing guidelines as set forth by the CDC, both during the course of my normal day and during my inspections.
-Clients will only be allowed to visit at the end of the inspection (see notes on Inspection Review below), and will be limited to one person.
-The on-site Inspection Review of my report findings will be presented via a screen mirroring app to maintain recommended Social Distancing guidelines. If needed, a linked tablet will be made available. This will be disinfected before and after the review.
-I will take whatever other steps are prudent and practical.
-If I suspect for any reason that I might have been exposed to the Covid-19 virus, I will not accept inspection assignments until I am certain that I am not a potential vector.
